Net603 Currently we are going over binary and how it related to both the Ip address and subnet mask  assigned to  computers.     As we can see in the picture illustrated above  our IP address has two ways in which it can be viwed;the series of numbers we see when we look at the IP address when we look at our ipconfig (on windows) or ifconfig(Ubunto) such as 145.10.34.3(pictured above) This presentation of our IP address is so that humans can read the series of numbers much easier than if they were displayed the same way the computer reads the Ip address- a series of 8bit binary numbers which are 0's and 1's.  Each Octet can hold up to 255  which can hold a wide range of numbers.
